Media release

At the Annual Conference of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), Allan Thompson, Mayor, Town of Caledon and Chair, Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA), was appointed to the AMO Board of Directors, Rural Caucus.

As a member of the Board, Allan Thompson will help set policy for the association and serve as a key municipal leader in the province.

“AMO benefits from membership from across the Province, and a Board that reflects the diversity of Ontario’s municipal governments. To that end, I am pleased to have Allan Thompson on the 2020-2022 Board team,” said newly elected AMO President Graydon Smith.

AMO’s Memorandum of Understanding with the Province of Ontario gives it the opportunity to provide input on decisions affecting municipal governments. AMO works on dozens of policy files –from safe roads, public health and safety and many more – that affect people’s daily lives.

Due to COVID-19, the AMO Conference was held virtually this year.  Running from August 17 to 19, the conference is the largest gathering of government leaders since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
