Heritage Conservation Districts

Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act allows a municipality to designate a defined area or areas as a Heritage Conservation District (HCD) to manage and guide future change in order to maintain and enhance the area's distinguishing special character.

HCDs contribute to our understanding and appreciation of our identity on the local, regional, and national levels.

It extends beyond its physical buildings, encompassing streets, landscape, and views within the district; HCDs are not static landscapes, but a living, working environment intrinsically linked to the community that inhabits them.

Currently Caledon has one Heritage Conservation District in downtown Bolton.
