Adopt a Pet

  • Low adoption fees
  • Spayed/neutered
  • Cats and dogs adopted have a microchip implant

What Is the Process to Adopt A Pet?

The Caledon Animal Shelter has an adoption application process for all adoptable pets. We require anyone interested in adoption to come in and meet our adoptable pets and speak with staff prior to completing an application form.

Applications must be submitted in person and will not be accepted by any other method. Please be aware that all applications are subject to review.

Cat Adoption

chartThe Caledon Animal Shelter is excited to announce the launch of Meet Your Match® Feline-ality™, an adoption program of the ASPCA.

How it Works

The key to developing successful adoptions lies in making good matches between adopters and pets, thus creating lasting bonds. "Feline-ality™ is a tool that does precisely this.

When visiting the Caledon Animal Shelter potential adopters will be invited to complete a brief one-page survey which will help to outline their lifestyle and will assign them a Feline-ality colour category. Adopters are then invited to focus on (but are not limited to) the corresponding colour assigned to cats in the shelter.

Both cat and family will benefit from meeting their match!

What colour is your cat?

Fill out the Meet Your Match® Feline-ality™ survey online to find out.

"Meet and Greets" for our adoptable cats may be done anytime during our adoption hours.

No appointments are necessary but we highly recommend that you call in advance to ensure the cat you are interested in is still available at that time.

Dog Adoption

"Meet and Greets" for our adoptable dogs are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please call 905.584.2272 x. 4698 or toll free at 1-866-818-5493.  Appointments will only be scheduled up to a maximum of 5 days in advance.  The Caledon Animal Shelter may contact you to cancel your appointment if the dog is adopted out prior to your scheduled Meet & Greet. We do not hold animals in reserve.

Anyone applying to adopt a dog with another dog in the home will also be required to bring their dog in to do an on-leash introduction. In order to bring your dog to the shelter for a Meet and Greet we will require a copy of your dog’s current vaccination records. Please call 905.584.2272 x. 4698 to schedule an appointment.
