Why Vote?

Voting is your right, privilege and civic responsibility. Participating in the election allows you the opportunity to shape your community by selecting the Members of Council that represent you locally and within the Region of Peel. To have your voice heard we encourage you to vote!   

Voter Eligibility 

You are eligible to vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election if you meet the following criteria on Election Day:

  • Canadian Citizen 
  • at least 18 years of age
  • reside within Caledon or are the owner/tenant of land in the Town, or the spouse of such owner/tenant

Ward Updates for the 2022 Election

The Town's Wards are changing in the 2022 Municipal Election. Voting will be based on the new ward system which will come into effect on November 15, 2022, the first day of the new term of Council. 

At the July 13, 2021 Town Council Meeting, a By-law was passed to update the Town's ward structure for the first time in 27 years.

Vote Anywhere!

The Town of Caledon is making it easier to cast your ballot in the election by using a vote anywhere system. This means that voters will be able to cast their ballot at any election polling location within the Town of Caledon regardless of which ward you reside in.

How to Vote

Eligible voters will need to bring one piece of identification that shows your name and address in order to receive a ballot on Election Day. Please note your voter identification card cannot be used as a piece of ID. A separate piece of identification will be required. 

Acceptable ID includes an Ontario driver's license or health card, property tax assessment, or utility bill. For more information please see the full list of acceptable documents for voter identification

Voting by proxy

If you are unable to attend a voting location to cast a ballot for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election, you can select another qualified elector to vote on your behalf. This is knows as voting by proxy.
