In the Town of Caledon, we promote and encourage civic engagement. Boards, committees and task forces play an important role in this process by providing advice and recommendations to Council.

Administrative boards and committees

Appeal Board

The Appeal Board provides resolutions to appeals of decisions made about business licensing and animal control by-laws. The board is made up of five community members appointed by Council. Learn more about how to appeal a by-law decision.

Property Standards Committee

The Property Standards Committee consists of five community members appointed by Council. They provide resolutions to all appeals made about the Property Standards By-law. Learn more about the appeal process and property standards in Town.

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment reviews applications for minor variancesconsents and validation certificates.

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Accessibility Advisory Committee is responsible for raising community awareness about all disabilities. We remove barriers for persons with disabilities. We work to make sure Caledon follows the standards outlined in the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Heritage Caledon

Heritage Caledon works with Council to protect our heritage and history. This includes defining heritage designations and promoting conservation in Town.

Task forces

Active Transportation Task Force

The Active Transportation Task Force works to expand all modes of active transportation, such as walking, cycling, and skiing in Town. This will help create a healthier and safer community.

Downtown Bolton Task Force

The Downtown Bolton Task Force works to prioritize recommendations within the Bolton Downtown Revitalization Plan, as approved by Council, within a thirty-six (36) month term and provide updates to Council and the public on progress made.

Visitor Management Task Force

The Visitor Management Task Force works to make recommendations to Council on how the municipality can actively promote and manage a positive tourism experience for visitors and residents of Caledon’s communities. The Task Force will actively collaborate with town staff and other stakeholders to complete identified action items within its term. 

Climate Change Action Plan Task Force

The Climate Change Action Plan Task Force supports the development of Caledon's Community Climate Change Action Plan update. They advise on ways to reduce community-wide greenhouse gas emissions and improve our community's ability to adapt to the realities of climate change now and in the future.

Seniors Task Force

The Seniors Task Force provides assistance and advice on the development and implementation of the Town's Adult 55+ Strategic Plan.

Council committees

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee reviews the financial statements from council. We work to maintain accountability and financial responsibility by keeping Caledon's finances open and transparent.

Golf Tournament Committee

The Golf Tournament Committee organizes the annual charity golf tournament and selects the recipients of the golf community grants.

Bolton Business Improvement Area (BIA)

The Bolton BIA maintains and improves municipally— owned lands, buildings and structures in the BIA area.

Public Library Board

The Caledon Public Library Board is responsible for overseeing the operation of all public libraries in Caledon.
