Information for Homeowners

Effective January 1, 2006 the requirements of the amended Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code (OBC) with respect to designers came into effect.

This means that any designer hired by a homeowner to prepare drawings/plans for a new home, addition or renovation may be required to be registered and/or have the qualifications as prescribed by Section 3.2 Division C of the OBC.

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in any permit application or permit documents prepared by your designer being DENIED by the Building & Support Services Section.

Also, please note that Schedule 1 of the Permit Application for MUST be fully completed by the designer.
