Bulletin No. 8: Income
The following bulletin is a highlight of Income
data in Caledon as released by Statistics Canada on May 13, 2003. The 2001
Census collected information on incomes received in 2000. The 1996 Census
collected information on incomes received in 1995.
Income
According to the 2001 Census, 87% of all families’
income was generated from employment, 4.7% from government transfer payments
and 8.3% from other sources.
Caledon’s median household income (half of
households have higher income, half have lower) was $84,381 in 2000, an
increase of 5.4% from 1990*. The median household income in Ontario and Region
of Peel in 2001 was $53,626 and $69,162 respectively.
The median male income in 2000 in Caledon was
$42,418 compared to $25,149 for females.
The average household income in Caledon was
$100,930. According to the Census, 6,105 (37.9%) households reported having an
income of $100,000 and over, up from 3,105 in 1995.
