Ice Cream Vehicle Licensing – Public Information

The Town of Caledon licences both owners
and operators of ice cream trucks and carts operating within the Town of
Caledon boundaries. Licenced vehicles
will have a Town of Caledon licence plate affixed to the vehicle.
Level of Service
The
by-law governing the licensing of ice cream vehicles sets out requirements for
both owners and operators, including:
• vehicle is clean and in good repair
• vehicle meets the approval of the Region of Peel Health Department
• operator is clean and neat
Operating Guidelines
An ice
cream vehicle shall not operate:
• on
collector or Regional Roads
• within 30 meters of any intersection
• within 100 meters of any school between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on any regular
school day
• for more than 15 minutes at a time at any specific location
• at a specific location within two (2) hours of a previous attendance at that
same location
• ring bells or chimes or make any other recognizable sounds at any one
location for more than twenty seconds
• between the hours of 9:00 pm one day and 8:00 am the following day
