A Message From The Fire Chief

The Caledon Fire & Emergency Services continues to grow and evolve from its roots when it was created during municipal restructuring in 1974. A Master Fire Plan has been completed, and will lead public fire protection in Caledon into the next decade. Additional, career staff have been assigned to the Bolton Fire Station to cover peak response times Monday through Saturday. This has relieved some of the pressure on the volunteer staff, and reduced their emergency response volume.

During 2009, a number of significant milestones were reached:
Ÿ One new pumper will be purchased and placed in Caledon Village
Ÿ Enhanced training has been provided to Firefighters and Company Officers
Ÿ Career staff is assigned to fire inspection and pre-planning programs

Public fire protection is a shared responsibility between residents and the municipality. The most effective way for homeowners to limit the impact of fire in the home is to have a working smoke alarm on each storey of the home and outside of sleeping areas, and have a home escape plan that has been practiced repeatedly by every member of the family.

The Caledon Fire & Emergency Services is comprised of approximately 250 personnel working out of 9 fire stations. Peel Region EMS has co-located ambulances in two of our fire stations. The fire service responded to approximately 2255 incidents in 2009. All of our personnel are dedicated to providing effective, efficient, safe and professional fire protection to the residents of Caledon.
