Application
for Reversal of Late Payment Charges from August 2011
Due to property tax by-law and procedural changes
implemented by the Town in June 2011, the Town of Caledon Council has recently
passed a motion authorizing staff to reverse late payment charges for the
non-payment of property taxes from the August 30, 2011 installment due date if
the tax payer:
•
qualifies for the Town’s pre-authorized payment plan (PAP). To qualify for the PAP, the tax payer must
have no outstanding arrears on the tax account (adjusted for the reversal), the
last tax assessment must be a full assessment and the property taxes are not
paid through a mortgage company;
• enrols
in the Town’s pre-authorized payment plan on or before October 30, 2011, for a
minimum of three years, commencing in 2012 and ending in 2014.
The late payment charges will be added back to the
tax account if the tax payer withdraws from the pre-authorized payment plan
(PAP) or the pre-authorized plan is terminated by the Town for two missed PAP payments,
prior to the last PAP in 2014.
