Property Standards Committee
Town of Caledon
Property Standards By-law was enacted to provide minimum requirements for the
maintenance and occupancy of buildings, properties, and vacant lots within the
Town of Caledon. The by-law addresses
concerns such as the structural integrity of buildings and structures, health
and safety risks, minimum standards for maintenance and occupancy and ensuring
properties are not unsightly. A
Property Standards Officer may issue a Property Standards Order requiring the
owner of a property to do work to bring the property up to Town standards. The Property Standards Committee, a
quasi-judicial tribunal of 7 constituents appointed by Council for a four-year
term, hear appeals to orders under authority of the Ontario Building Code Act.
The Committee may amend, quash or confirm the Order. Members receive a stipend for the
(approximately 8-10) meetings they annually attend.
