Committee of Adjustment
The Planning
Act authorizes Council of The Corporation of the Town of Caledon the
ability to appoint Committee Members. Generally committee members are appointed
from each of the seven (7) Wards which include one (1) Chair appointed by the
committee. The appointed members will
sit on this Committee for the term of Council (2011-2014).
The mandate of the Committee of Adjustment
is to consider applications dealing with severance (consent); lease for more
than 21 years; certificate of validation; lot addition and minor variance to
the Town Comprehensive Zoning By-law 2006-50,as amended. The Committee of Adjustment is required to
have knowledge of the Greenbelt Plan; Provincial Policy Statement (PPS); Town
of Caledon Official Plan and the Comprehensive Zoning By-law.
There are fourteen (14) committee meetings
scheduled throughout the year. The meetings commence at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
are open to the public and can last approximately one to four hours. It is
expected that the members of the Committee will attend all meetings. In the event that a member is unable to
attend three members constitute a quorum. The members receive an Honorarium per
meeting.
A staff report is prepared by Planning and
Development for each application. Agenda
and Reports are delivered to the Committee members the Friday before a schedule
Hearing. Reports are available for the
public the Friday before a scheduled Hearing. Committee members are expected to
familiarize themselves with the subject properties and make site visits prior
to each of the fourteen (14) scheduled Hearings.
