CALEDON CITIZENS
ON PATROL PROGRAM (CCOP)
Mission Statement:
To enhance the individual and collective safety and general welfare of
residents by assisting the OPP in deterring crime in the Town of Caledon.
Who are we and what do we do?
We are
observant volunteers in a unique program. Patrollers are carefully
selected, screened and interviewed by a panel. Trained individuals are
paired and equipped with a police scanner and use a cell phone to maintain
contact with the Communications Centre in Orillia. Patrollers
"Observe and Report" any act of crime or situation that may require
the attention of the OPP.
Results:
Since 2002 Citizens on Patrol volunteers have patrolled 7,517 hours, 107,302
kilometres and have made 1,743 reports to the OPP.
