George Bolton Parkway Extension: Class Environmental Assessment

Posted on Thursday May 18, 2017

The Corporation of the Town of Caledon has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for the extension of George Bolton Parkway from Highway 50 to Albion Vaughan Road.

The study is being undertaken to investigate alternative road options to improve connectivity, safety and operations in the South Bolton industrial area and to provide an arterial road to link from Albion Vaughan Road to Coleraine Drive.

PROCESS:

The study will be conducted in accordance with the planning and design process for ‘Schedule C’ projects, as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association "Municipal Class Environmental Assessment," (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015), as approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

The Class EA process includes public/external agency consultation, an evaluation of alternative solutions and alternative design concepts, an assessment of potential impacts associated with proposed improvements and development of measures to mitigate identified impacts.  Upon completion of the study, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared and made available for public review and comment.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION:

Public participation will form as integral part of the Class EA study to ensure that the ongoing concerns of the public and affected groups within the study area are identified, documented and assessed.

The Public Information Centre (PIC) will have an open house format to enable the public to meet the project team and to provide feedback to better address the needs and opportunities of the study area corridor.

Date: Monday, June 5, 2017

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Location: Albion Bolton Community Centre, Room D – 150 Queen Street South, Bolton ON
